The Circus Of Hope

Come to us, freaks and the fearful
lay your talents beside us to weep
in the shadows of love,
in the cracks of your sleep
and we'll dance by the light
of electrical sheep,
for tonight all our nightmares are drowned,
for the jokers are waking
and the dancing girls glitter
and the circus of hope is in town.

Come to us, beggars unsighted
you hidden with broken-down wares
for tonight you are noticed
and your amber soul glares
and the diamond you've polished
alone will be shared
and the pain of your loss will be pulled into found
and your shadow-ice thawed
and transmuted to wine
for the circus of hope is in town.

Come to us, brothers and sisters,
come take a rest from your strolls,
join the tent made up
of millions of souls.
Take off your symbols
and set aside goals,
screw up the morning and throw to the clouds
and cry the tears upward not down
for tonight, for this one night,
we all have relief
while the circus of hope is in town.

Make your mark here with your pencil.
Put your feet here on the land,
for tonight we're immortal
the play is in hand
and the lines and direction are ours to command
and we all have a purpose
and all have a plan
and even our silence has sound,
for the circus of life,
for the circus of hope,
the elixir of fools is in town.
