Don't Let Me Go Insane

I am a shambling old lady
who mutters to herself.
I've got my health.
It's with me here on this shelf.

I am an ant without a colony,
the queen has let me go.
I am a snowman in the sun.
I am a clown but I'm no fun,
the circus has left town.

Don't let me go, insane.
I'm praying to my brain.
I am an atheist, that's too bad.
Is praying mad when deep inside you're glad,
that there's no God?

I am a shop with shutters down,
an old faded sign shows sale.
I'm one pale whale.
I'm throwing doubles sixes that send me straight to jail.

I am a bee on plastic flowers
that cannot taste the silk.
I am a milkman in a land
where trifle and egg custards are all banned,
and wiping out the cattle has been planned.

Don't let me go, insane.
I'm praying to my brain.
I am an atheist, that's too bad.
Is praying mad when deep inside you're glad,
that there's no God?
