Rachel Hudson

Today I was born
in curls of warm
mist and angular light
from a hospital ceiling.
I wondered; what shall I be
when I grow old?

My thin pink skin,
soft and delicate,
perfect, swam in the thick air,
tiny fingers grasping at something
out of reach.
One day I might find it.
