The Same As Any Place

Well he was drifting alone
among the grey of the town.
One more horizon to lay
upon the ground.

He had the moon in his eyes.
He had the future and past.
He had a picture in mind
and held it fast.

And he said
"It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home.
It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home."

He had a coat that was green
and made of velvet and dust.
and in his hand was a rod
of heavy rust.

And every sign was of sleep
and act was in vain.
And every carpet of grass
cried in his name.

When he saw
It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home.
It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home.

The sky was white as a ghost,
the weather starving the sky,
and every street was the same
as shops sank by.

His destination drew near,
the final place was in mist.
And every decade and year
was blessed and kissed.

And he said
"It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home.
It's just the same as any place.
It's just the same as home."
