Then God Speaks

She looks like her sister,
her pallor is grey.
Black eyes of a stranger...
Her hair is like hay.
She is cold,
cracks...
rough...
green.

She thinks of her childhood,
an apple core meal.
Thin arms and a sadness,
and all she can feel
is the past
year
bite
down.

She feels tired.
The sky is blue and wide,
and the tide's bleak
just like another week...
then God speaks.
