About this painting
What if a tape measure could measure life? Would the divisions be even? What mysteries and discoveries would lie along the numbers? That idea spawned this simple painting.
A tape measure starts at zero with an egg, then moves through the stages of life and death. A child reaches for it. A lightning flash plants a vine seed, and the scream of a gull shatters the picture into kites and diamonds before a tiny kite falls to the ultimate sunset, like a droplet of sand in a cosmic hourglass. |
