About this painting
This idea came from Immanuel Kant and his ideas about knowledge being based sensory data. The painting explores whether it is possible for a chick inside an egg to know anything, or whether it could possess a sort of genetic knowledge of the outside world. In this case the sky was chosen because hens cannot fly, but could once fly in their genetic history, and so could possess the knowledge or awareness of flight even when inside an egg despite not being able to fly.

Can you see the portrait of Immanuel Kant in the clouds?
