About this painting
A monstrance is a Catholic sculpture designed to hold the host, displaying in as an object of reverence. I was inspired by these artworks and wanted to make a secular celebration of life, like Beethoven's pastoral symphony in visual form.

Inspired by an instant vision, I saw several shapes, pictures of rural natural beauty, surrounding a central image and he decided to paint a series of miniatures all on one panel, segmented.

A bee, a sheep, bread, a mackerel, a sparrow, a daisy, a fox, a cat and in the centre, oak leaves. The surround is cut from white oak, with a white marble base and spikes gilded with 23.5kt red gold.

Technical details
The artwork took a year to create and faced several technical challenges, which I enjoy tackling. It was the first time I had used oak or marble, and I designed the work so that it can be mounted on its stand or removed and wall-hung like a painting.
