About this painting
A painting of crisis, breakdown, which reflected my mood at the time. The face displays anger, panic, fear, yet in the eyes sadness. A second figure like a puppet master, or magician, pulls apart the threads.

The electrically-lit frame design is an important aspect of this work.

Technical details
Technically and compositionally, this work uses a mix of techniques. The work began from random paint, that formed into the image of the face, thus automatism. The eye motif is repeated throughout the work, like a visual theme, the "symphonic painting" technique that I had used notably on 2006 work, The Migraine Tree. The top right of the work uses solvent to dissolve the paint in ragged drips, but the painting was painted in two layers and is otherwise fine and smooth.
