About this painting
One of many ideas from the past year or two that I decided to expand and paint directly from the idea sketch, thus the style is more graphic than realistic, but more expressive and true to the original concept.

The theme is simple, a depiction of the oppressive feelings of working tirelessly for seemingly no reward. Often life can be about putting the hardest and most tireless work into the greatest and most wonderful things that are passed by, while the tasks performed with ease, almost carelessly, so simple acts of ungenius can result in almost accidental rewards.

Immediate reward can be haphazard, but the intricate work on the best things without compromise must continue.

Technical details
I wanted to preserve the freedom and expressiveness of the original idea sketch, a tiny 4x4 centimetre drawing, so I simple scanned that drawing, and enlarged it.

I've tried to replicate the sketch in this way a few times over the years, but this is the most direct method, first used last year.
