About this painting
Created for Ekphrastic Towers, an exhibition staged and arranged by John F. Keane of the Write Out Loud group, and Katherine Rosati of Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Ekphrasis is a painted or visual description of a poem or written work, and the exhibition explored the transformation and evolution of artistic ideas across different media and different artists and poets.

The silver from the title alludes to a cigarette lighter, and I've included a few hints and design elements from a Ronson petrol lighter. Like 'To A Fly Trapped In Amber' this was inspired by a poem, here by Martin Elder. As with the other paintings, it includes elements from 'The Death of Chatterton' by Henry Wallis.
