About this painting

Painted while working on Sunset With Rose Petals, which includes the same sun object.

The sun represents emotion, passion, a heavy heart held by a chain but also perhaps constrained. The cracked landscape below includes many figures and details, fantastical automatic creations and aids to interpretation.

Technical details

In this painting, liquid paint was used to add the cracks and objects in the landscape. Painting light and dark paint into a thin wet glaze creates a misty effect that allows objects to form and fade, be defined, manipulated or replaced with ease; the creation of mental forms in delicate shades of lightness and darkness.
