About this painting
Developed originally in 2010 for an annual Sue Ryder charity event, this painting was originally about the escape from fear. The theme changed during development because fears are essentially warnings, and so must always remain. As such, the escape became star-crossed, doomed.

A woman leaps from a hellish red area of skulls and flames into glorious sky blue and free flying butterflies. However, shadows and echoes of skulls and fears haunt every part of the picture.

The painting was restored and parts repainted in 2021. By this time, my technique had changed but I aspired to preserve the look of the 2010 work.
