About this event
One of a series of experimental art performance nights at music venue Mash Guru, curated and organised by Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky. The theme of the evening was Empty.
Mark Sheeky's opening act involved reading the first three paragraphs of the Light section of his book 'Deep Dark Light', which concerned longing. Claire Bassi read poems to four videos. A Simon Woolham video was then screened. Simon Ross played a sound recording of a conversation with Siri, and a "Slow TV" style video of the Macclesfield townscape. Michael Chisholm read several poems. Sabine Kussmaul played a sound of silence, a six minute ambient recording. Alix Hyde showed a video of deserted buildings pushed to extreme black and white with an synthetic soundtrack. At the end of the evening, as is customary on such nights, several people improvised music in a relaxed style; Tom Heaton, Simon Ross and Sabine Kussmaul on guitar, with Mark Sheeky on synthesizer. |
