About this event
One of a series of experimental art performance nights at music venue Mash Guru, curated and organised by Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky. The theme of the evening was Systems.
Sabine began by showing three films about the process of American sculptor, Richard Serra who created action nouns (eg. to bend, to spread, to wrap, to stretch) chosen at random to stimulate creativity. The second film showed a person performing these nouns, and in a third film, a list of nouns appeared on screen and we acted them out. Simon Ross reported on his project to detect pollution across Macclesfield using bandages. Mark Sheeky read his Rocks video-poem as seen in ArtSwarm, which compares magma and rock with love and hate. In an extended jam session participants played for thirty minutes or so, creating a Tangerine Dream style soundscape. Initially Mark Sheeky on SY-85, Simon Ross on a Roland synthesizer, and Alix Hyde on guitar. Later, Deborah Edgeley played SY-85 and Sabine, guitar. |
