About this event
One of a series of experimental art performance nights at music venue Mash Guru, curated and organised by Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky. The theme of the evening was Cats.

The night began with a reading by Bryan Riley of a mock-news report about his criminal cat, followed by a video and soundscape by Lavinia Murray, and a silent video by Simon Ross of one of his cats. Claire Bassi showed the video of drawing around her cat which she had shown on ArtSwarm, and Mark Sheeky sang his Cat Phone Song. Then the audience watched a streamed video about a feral cat hunting, and another video compilation of brave cats scaring off various animals.

Clare Bassi read a short poem, then attendees took part in a live chat with Sabine's home and her cat, Sooty. Artist Jacki Clark gave a talk about lino cutting and shared some of her cat related work and the lino plates. Neil Puttick showed his cat-shrine, a small arrangement of art near where his cat used to eat.

Mark Sheeky performed an encore of my Cat Phone Song, then in the Love Cats act, the words to Love Cats by The Cure were projected line by line. Sabine on guitar and Mark on SY-85 played new music to this while members of the audience acted out the words. The evening ended with a quiet music jam involving Sabine and Mark.
