About this event
Out Damned Spot is a fantastical satirical novel, in the style of Gulliver's Travels or The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, by F. J. McQueen. This was a live performance of words and music by the author and Mark Sheeky which acts as a guide to the universe of the novel.
Out Damned Spot Live is an immense spoken journey around a fantastical, and highly imaginative, alternative world populated by extraordinary beings. It begins with an assault from the Map Battalions, soldiers who are made from maps, and includes many strange creatures; a population of frozen embryos, circumcision ants, ironing-board centaurs, as well as Shakespeare, and Jesus, and many more. This was the first reading of this work that included music, and Mark Sheeky created simple themes for different areas of the universe. The show is unstructured; the journey can take the reader and audience anywhere within a vast universe, and music needs to change to match the surroundings and characters the audience encounter. |
