About this event
One of a series of experimental art performance nights at music venue Mash Guru, curated and organised by Sabine Kussmaul and Mark Sheeky. The theme of the evening was Power.

Mark Sheeky opened the night with a performance entitled Persecution of the Weak, which involved dressing in rags and ringing a bell, while reading and improvising poems around phrases chosen at random from Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four. Deborah Edgeley followed with a poem with a Lord of the Flies theme, involving a "conch" and a shell-sound.

Simon Ross contributed two pieces; a video of blossom with letters that formed "yoko ono" plus sound samples triggered semi-randomly, plus distorted electric guitar riffs played to poetry read in five languages. Sabine Kussmaul showed a video of while lines strewn across the landscape, like contours of power, heavily blown by the wind.

Poems based on paintings by Jacki Clarke were played, songs by Tom Heaton and two layered soundscapes by Lavinia Murray; Deja-vu and Rewop.
