A Bruce Springsteen-themed Open Mic event hosted by John Lindley. Performers were asked to read a poem or perform a song, either one on Springsteen's works or related to Bruce Springsteen in some way.
Mark Sheeky wrote a new song for the event, 'New Guitar', inspired by Used Cars. Deborah Edgeley read a new poem inspired by Tom Joad. Other performers and songs included Paul Brooks; Tougher than the rest, Waitin' on a Sunny Day. Mike Drew; Atlantic City. John Lindley; The River, Dancing in the Dark. Dave Boothroyd; Because the night, and a new poem. Jane Harland with autobiography readings. Dennis Eborall; If I should fall behind, No Surrender. Glyn Roberts on keyboard with Factory, and Thunder Road. Gordon Gunn; Pink Cadillac, Downbound Train. Helena Dugdale; My Hometown, Streets of Philadelphia. Cherie Pingel-Tuffin performed two original poems for the night, and David Tuffin read lyrics from three of Bruce's songs. Lennie Munday performed The War Nurse, and House of 1000 Guitars. Christine held a Bruce-themed quiz, and the music technician for the night John Miller performed Sleepy Joe's Cafe. |
