Ticka-Oh Ticka-Ay

Did you ever wonder what happened to Molly Jones?
She is rocking away in the old people's home
her kids don't bother to see her,
they have families of their own,
and since Desmond died, she spends her evenings alone

She wants to visit their home again but it's sold now
the metal clock on the wall tells her so

Ticka-oh
Ticka-ay
And another hour ticks away
Ticka-ay
Ticka-oh
Where do the old days go?

She gets a message from her daughter Mary on a screen
She needs some money for John, a fancy new machine
But Molly hasn't got much left,
nothing today is free
and her special ring is now a memory

Ticka-oh
Ticka-ay
Another Christmas and a birthday
Ticka-ay
Ticka-oh
Where do the old days go?

She wants to visit her childhood for a weekend
Her memories of it get clearer every day

Ticka-ay
Ticka-oh
Where do the ye-ars go?
Ticka-oh
Ticka-ay
They are safe in yesterday
They're still there in yesterday
