About this painting
Created for Ekphrastic Towers, an exhibition staged and arranged by John F. Keane of the Write Out Loud group, and Katherine Rosati of Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Ekphrasis is a painted or visual description of a poem or written work, and the exhibition explored the transformation and evolution of artistic ideas across different media and different artists and poets.
Like 'To A Fly Trapped In Amber' and 'Silver' this was inspired by a poem, a childhood recollection of Winnie the Pooh stories by Maggie Waker. The window in the sky is taken from 'The Death of Chatterton' by Henry Wallis. |
