About this painting

A painting inspired by an image of Telly Savalas, this painting is part of my improvised 'symphonic' style which uses an image or sections of an image as a theme which is reproduced to create and manipulate the feeling of the work. This is the visual equivalent of composers such as Liszt, and something that has ultimately grown from my early interest in fractal graphics, and a contemporaneous interest in Romaticism.

Unlike abstract music, painting can cnvey more intellectual information, and this work perhaps evokes the lovelessness of the urban. It was conceived and executed with the minimum of conscious thought. The meaning and feeling is partly granted by you, the viewer, as each work of art creates a unique interaction, but ultimately this was created as an emotional expression.
