About this painting
This painting was planned in late 2006 and painted in 2007. Silent film comedian Charlie Chaplin was a communist and committed opponent of fascism. Chaplin's repeated warnings of the threat posed by Hitler in the 1930's ultimately failed to make any impact on American public opinion.

The mood of this painting is defined by colour. Green is used for the flesh tones to indicate disappointment. The red of socialism, and brown tail objects compliment the green to form the colours of a rose. The impaled fifty dollar note indicates the uselessness of Chaplin's wealth.
