About this painting
Painted for a Macclesfield competition with the theme of silk. For harvesting, silk worms are held in a mechanical contraption and their thread pulled and would around a spindle by a motor. I found this a little horrific, and wanted to paint a picture of this mechanical exploitation of the silk worm. This crucifixion was the result.
