About this painting
A pyrograph, made by burning wood, then embellished with black ink, paint and gold. I was listening to the reading of "An Angel At My Table" while working, and elements of the life of author Janet Frame became incorporated into the design.

Lighting and rain, fear, electric shock therapy, wonder and imagination. All of these combine to depict the life of isolation and analytical introspection that meanders through the writer's work.
