Ekphrasis

In 2017, the one-evening exhibition 'Relics: The Master Artworks of Mark Sheeky' in Chester became my first solo exhibition in a commercial gallery.

2018 and 2019 were filled with live art and music performances, including many as Fall in Green. I recorded and released our first album, Testing the Delicates, and from that time started to notate music with the aim of publishing the sheet music to my compositions. Until now, memorising was sufficient, but memory is limited. By 2018, I'd written 1,500 songs and at least 1,000 pieces of instrumental music. It became necessary to learn to read and write music to be able to perform.

In 2018, my solo exhibition in Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery (21st Century Surrealism) was my lagest to date and included many poets from the Write Out Loud Group. The poets wrote poems for each painting, and read these in a special event. My art exhibitions were becoming more literary under the influence of Deborah Edgelely, and involving more performance aspects.

In 2019, I composed and performed some piano music for John Keane's exhibition, 'Ekphrastic Towers', which took place in the same gallery. Musically, solo piano was my primary instrument, but this was about to change.
