I Woke Up Unhappy Today

I woke up unhappy today.
The sky wasn't blue it was grey.
The sun cast white, not an orange yellow light,
and the birds sat in silence,
too tired for flight.

My bedroom was cold,
when before it was warm.
My hands looked old,
when before they were young.
My voice was silent,
when before it sung,
as I spoke only simple words to my love at my side,
but today my joy died.
I can't feel it inside,
and the tunes in my head are all bad.
For the first time in months,
since that summer morning dream,
I woke up feeling sad.
