The Undersea Tomb

I passed a man from a distant world
and in his eyes I saw the sky,
great and vast in azure beauty
of depth like oceans' diamond soul.

Laid there on rippled plains of sand,
that streched to infinite command
a tomb of great black mirrored stone
on which was carved; "Behold,
for I am free,
for I am future set to be."

A shadow passed, of ray or bird.
The eyes fell shut, to smash the sea.
The man walked by, not seeing me.
